Offline Quran apps: 6 that work without internet
On a flight, underground, or anywhere the signal drops, you still want to read and listen. These six apps were launched on HalaLaunch by indie Muslim makers and reviewed by hand before launch, including a halal-content check. For each app we note what its maker says works offline, so you know what to download before you lose connection.

The apps
Kitaby - My Quran Companion
- iOS
- Android
- Web
- macOS
- Free
Kitaby keeps the complete text of eight readings on your device from the first time you open it: Hafs and the seven other King Fahd Complex riwayat, including Warsh and Qaloun. Tajweed is shown in colour for Hafs and Warsh, with a colour set for colour-blind readers. You can keep any surah for offline listening from 100+ reciters, and download translations and tafsir to keep on the device. A memorization veil hides words without moving the page. No account is needed.
Download before you go: the reciters and tafsir you want.
Rattil-رتل
- Android
- Free
- No ads
Rattil is the pick if you want to understand what you read while offline. It bundles the Uthmani Mushaf page by page with 14 tafsir editions, including Ibn Kathir, al-Tabari, al-Qurtubi and al-Sa’di, plus translations, prayer times, Qibla and adhkar. Its maker says everything works offline after the first download. Prayer times follow Egypt’s official references by governorate.
Download before you go: recitations.
Shifa Quran
- Android
- Free
- No account
A calm reader and player with four well-known reciters (Alafasy, Abdul Basit, Shuraym, Al-Muaiqly) and translations in eight languages, including Urdu, Pashto, Persian and Indonesian. Download recitations and they play without a connection. Bookmarks and reading position stay on your phone. Streaming new recitations needs internet.
Hifzan: Quran Memorization
- iOS
- Android
- Freemium
Hifzan builds a daily memorization plan (listen, recite, test) and marks each word green or red as you recite. You can read and listen offline once downloaded, with 16 reciters and 42 translations. The listing doesn’t say whether recitation checking works offline, so plan your tests for when you have a connection. Plans, listening and reading are free; Pro adds guided recite, tests and the voice coach. Hifzan won Week 43 on HalaLaunch.
Hafiz: Memorize Quran Helper
- iOS
- Free, heatmap premium
Hafiz is for people who have memorized and want to keep it. Log each review by surah, ayah range or page, and it shows which parts you are closest to forgetting. It works fully offline, with no account and no tracking. The colour heatmap of your whole hifz is premium, and anyone who can’t pay can unlock it for free.
Disclosure: Hafiz is made by HalaLaunch’s founder.
Noum: Quran to help sleep
- Android
- Free
Noum plays Quran recitation at bedtime with a sleep timer that fades out gently. Surah Al-Mu’minun is built in, so it works offline from the start, and you can download other surahs for your playlist.
